How to Disable Your Browser’s Pop-up Blocker

The pop-up blocker in your browser keeps most sites from opening pop-up windows while you browse the Internet. However, some web applications, including eProtocol IACUC, eProtocol IBC, and eProtocol FID, require that your web browser is configured to allow pop-ups in order to function properly. Step-by-step instructions on how to change pop-up blocker settings for the most popular web browsers are provided below.

Disabling Browser Pop-up Blockers

 

Chrome (PC & Mac)

Follow the instructions below to add eProtocol sites to your exceptions list and keep pop-up blocker enabled.

1. In the top-right corner of Chrome, click the Chrome menu chrome menu icon to show the option menu. Select Settings.

2. Click Show advanced settings to display additional options.

3. Under "Privacy", click the Content settings.

4. Under "Pop-ups", Click Manage exceptions.

5. Enter "[*.]orsc.utexas.edu", and select Allow.

Edge (Windows)

1. In Microsoft Edge, click the 3 dots (More actions) button in the upper right hand corner then select Settings.

2. Scroll down the list and click View advanced settings.

3. Switch Block pop-ups to off.

Internet Explorer 8 to 11 (Windows)

Follow the instructions below to add eProtocol sites to your exceptions list and keep pop-up blocker enabled.

1. For Internet Explorer 9, 10, and 11, click the Tools ie11 tools icon button, then select  Internet options.

For Internet Explorer 8, click Tools button on the menu bar (if you do not see Tools, press the Alt key to show the menu bar). A dropdown menu will appear. Select Internet options.

2. From the Privacy tab, check Turn on Pop-up Blocker and click Settings.

3. In Pop-up Blocker Settings window, enter *.orsc.utexas.edu in Address of website to allow: and click Add.

Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (Windows)

1. Click Tools menu and select Internet Options.

2. From the Privacy tab, uncheck Turn on Pop-up Blocker and click "OK".

Yahoo Toolbar Pop-up Blocker

1. Locate the Pop-up blocker icon and click the down arrow.

1. Open Norton Internet Security's/Firewall's main window (you may click the firewall icon on the system tray or use Start->Programs->Norton Firewall)
